Raul Penaranda inspired by the late 1990's and early 2000's at Style Fashion Week New York
Raul Penaranda took style cues from the late 1990's and early 2000's in his Fall/Winter 2016 collection. Throughout his collection, Penaranda utilized shiny fabrics such as silk and satin as well as silver and golden metallic fabrics. He used a wide variety of colors in the collection including a stunning red-wine, gray, light pink, brown, cream and light green. The fabrics and colors that Penaranda incorporated into the collection definitely screamed late 1990's and early 2000's.
Models strutted down the runway in pulled back ponytails and dark lipstick, another cue that Penaranda was inspired by the late 1990's and early 2000's for this collection. Several models also donned choker necklaces.
Penaranda also reflected on the fashion of the late 1990's and early 2000's through the silhouettes that he used in this collection. Asymmetrical hemlines, turtlenecks, high waistlines, bellbottom flares and cropped tops were all present in the collection.
